To nurture and nourish your entire self, you want to focus on your daily habits, routines, and behaviours that make up the majority of your life. These are all choices, and can be changed when you find the right purpose. And what better purpose is there than taking such good care of yourself that you glow with peace, joy, energy and equanimity!

Here are some healthy habits for your body, mind, and soul.

Nurture Your Body

To start with, you want to nurture your body. This is when your habits help your physical health, such as eating a more balanced diet, exercising every day, and getting better sleep.

Think about what habits will help your physical health. It is going to be different for everyone, but maybe you find that doing exercise like yoga in the morning helps you to be healthier the rest of the day. You might start your day with warm lemon water, or promise that you will have fruits and veggies with every meal of the day.

Nurture Your Mind

To nurture your mind, you want to learn more, add in creative activities, read, and focus on avoiding negativity. Think of what you consume digitally these days? Is it good for you? All of it? Think of habits that will improve your mind, both your intellectual mind and your creative mind.

Some of these habits might include:

Reading more.

Learning something new on a regular basis.

Taking classes, either intellectual or art classes.

Making art part of your self-care routine.

Dedicating time every day to expressing gratitude.

You can start slow, and just think of what is bothering you the most right now. Do you feel like you aren’t using your skills? Are you struggling with lack of time for reading? Then also check what you are drawn towards, what stirred a bit of passion in you when you heard of it. A combination of purpose and passion is a great place to start your learning.

Nurture Your Soul

Finally, choose habits that help to nurture your soul. This can be meditation, spiritual growth, digital breaks, or writing in a journal. Think about habits that are good for your mental health. For many people, they start with writing in a journal, which can be good for both your mind and your soul.

You might start working more on your spiritual growth with books and community events, or maybe you find that you need the mental break from social media and do digital detoxes on a regular basis. Find what works for you. I like to join in with community satsangs and healing circles during the week as well as my own mindfulness and yoga practices. That works for me. What about you?

Also keep in mind many habits fit multiple categories. Yoga is good for your physical health, soul, and mind. Reading can also fit into multiple categories. Pick and choose a wide range of healthy habits that will nurture your entire self.

You deserve it!

This is a series for coaches and therapists who are passionate about their work and their clients but struggling to find a way to make things work post-Covid as clients melt away and money becomes an issue for most people.

This is a time when most of us are scared. Nothing is known or predictable and many of us are dithering about what to do. In fact, this indecision is paralysing us and that is something that will derail the success of any practice. Therapists and coaches who are successful are people who have learned to do two things.

One is be flexible enough to pivot their business to what will work now — and the other is to break through enough of the fear barriers to get productive again.
